MA Snart,

Not tryin to hijack, but just wanted to thank you for this fabulous thread and your offer to help me find a good close up detail pics of 67 rocker mouldings.

From my research, here are some images that I found. only one I'm certain of is the spears and gills for a 68

First is a pic of spears and gills...2nd and 3rd are what I believe to be 67 mouldings, but I've never seen them on a car so i'm not positive that they are correct.

Thread is great
Thanks
Steve
Steve the bottom tow pictures are correct 67 moldings. Pics were taken on my kitchen table.

Well that answers some of your questions.

In the 1968 spec book it called out the optional molding trim with or without gills (first attachment page 75). In the top left hand picture you can see the trim spear starting at the wheel well. So far I have not yet figured out if you just had your option when ordering the trim, or if the gills were part of another package of the sport. I would say you just had your option - No trim spear, just trim spear, or trim spear with gills.

The next attachment shows a color photo of a 68 with the trim. I do not know if this photo is factory shot or of some owners car. You can see the body is painted silver below the trim spear in this picture. AFBill said the factorry painted the body silver below the spear trim.

The next attachment (page 73) shows a drawing of the sports fastback version in the lower right hand corner with the gill trim and what looks like silver paint below the trim spear.

The next picture of the Notchback was in the company information book for 1968 and you can see the spear but not anything below it

Under sport package on page 88 (the next attachment), you can see that custom sill moldings were included.

Then to confuse me at least, page 92 talks about belt, sill, and custom sill. I am not sure what the diffwerence is between belt and sill. Also it does not recommend sport strips with the sill trim, but every damn picture with trim shows it with the sports stripe.

I looked thru my 68 photos, these pictures are the best I could find.

It does look like FABO member Itate has the gill trim on his car. I have sent a PM to him to see if he has the gills and if he would take some closer shots for us and post them.

Hope that helps, Steve

Ma Snart

2 Things

1) The quality of work YOU did on this car is amazing

2) The choices you made in colors, wheels/tires, the stripe, hood scoop, and stance have resulted in one of the baddest 2nd gen fish in the pond.

Your car is beautiful. Job well done.
