I know a fan shroud is important but haven't been able to find a quantitative value ( degrees or gage needle movement ). I'm having overheating issues with the stock 6 blade unshrouded fan on my recently rebuilt 65 273 4bbl. I bought a 16" low profile electric fan from AutoZone and am in the process of making a full core coverage shroud. I'm just wondering how much the shroud will help.
140 degree thermostat, today used rad flush, refilled and cycled with clean water 5 times, then filled with 10-15% coolant and bottle of Water Wetter. Helped a little but not enough to prevent rough running and short trips to get back and shut down. Timing advanced 5 degrees.
