Small Hughes cam in 318

one thing you might look at is valve to piston clearance no valve reliefs .030 down hole long exhaust dur. sounds too tight to me.

I haven't heard much about Rhoads lifters. Is there a duration guideline to use? I'll have to study up. LOL

It really depends on the combo. If you have an over cammed (230 @ .050 or greater) car with highway gears and low comnpression, then yes, they can be beneficial.

In a light A body, even with low comnpression and say at least a 3.55 gear, you could probably get by without them with a 230 @ .050 cam.......though they could still add some bottom end torque.
