The guy said it ran 5 years ago and then he took it out of his truck. It's been stored indoors ever since. He wants $200 bucks for it. Is that a steal pr should I just stick to building a 318 for a Dart.

It's a steal, but you should go through it before installing it.

You never know what you'll find in and engine that some other "expert" built.... :banghead:

It's only a deal if it's worth $200. Plenty of 383s running 5 years ago and coming out of trucks aren't worth $20. It could also be a money pit, how ya gonna know without tearing it down?

At least pull the heads and oil pan. Turn it over to see that it rotates freely.

Heck I'll probably just go pick it up and rebuild it so I have something to do until I can find a car to put it in.

I paid $500 for my 383 and 727 tranny from a 68 Road runner that was supposedly rebuilt. lol I knocked it apart, and the motor would of ran, but not for long. I sold the rotating for $200 to a buddy. and still have the complete 906 heads. i used the block for my 426 build.

Well as of now I don't have a car to put it in, but if it a smoking deal like this I can get started working on the engine and then find a car to put it in. I need to give my Dad's '66 Chevelle SS a run for it's money haha. I'm the black sheep of the family because I'm the only Mopar guy. The rest are GM fanatics that tell me I should just LS swap everything :violent1:

Buy it! I bought a complete 383 and 727 out of a 68 Newport for $150 a few years back. Still sitting in my garage!
