Some of ya remember I lost oil pressure (again) on the white whale. This was last week, went down to Mullan to buy a little camper. So today I went down there in the Ranger with the little mini--flatbed (used to be a tent trailer) and brought 'er home. 350 bucks. No appliances, just a basic little camper. And while I nearly killed myself, I did get it onto the Dodge.

The Whale is ill:

Well guys the "White Whale" is very ill, engine time......

I'm totally beat. It's still sitting on the 4x4 skids. Because of difference in bed height, I'll buy 3? treated 2x4's and it will end up with the floor sitting on them. Have not decided to do with the window. It has a big gasket, which I don't like. I may "sheet metal" it over, or find some plastic and just "make a window" and have it sealed.

Needs two very minor roof repairs. Someone installed tie down eyes right through the roof. Bad idea. I'll get some sealant and some sheet aluminum and patch that.

Also, this little guy was built (locally by "Roamin Chariot") for a narrow bed. Now that it's on a wide box, I'll cut some doors up in the lower front sides so I can store stuff "out there" in the outer bed area. I have a lot to do first, namely, LOL, "fix the engine"

More progress. Got the oil pan back on, oil pressure "picks up" when starting...obviously faster. Put the camper on the hoist and pulled up off the truck. Yesterday, I found a rear slider window to replace the "big gasket" pass through setup, which won't work on the Dodge, anyhow. I don't know WHAT I'd do, anymore, without that hoist!!

The presssure treated 2X4's are "just right" to make up the height difference. I'll screw them to the bottom of the camper. Those will be a blessing, as they will keep the camper up off the bed floor, and allow it to dry out and help prevent rot.

Just kiddin, I have no idea where that came from.

ive been told your driving does that to people

!!DOH!! I hafta 'mit, that went over my head LOL

I actually had a heat stroke about three years ago. A long time friend called me from the Krystal in Gray about eight miles into town. His Chevy truck had failed to start. I rode into town and quickly diagnosed a bad fuel pump. He called to have it towed to my house we went to get a new fuel pump.

Mind you, this was smack dab in the middle of summer in middle Georgia......and of course this was on what ended up being the hottest day that year. It was "somewhere" over 100 with the usual added on middle Georgia humidity.

So we get home and the truck is already there so I proceed to start on it. Hard headed that I am, I just worked right through. No break. My friend, who is a long retired Army drill instructor, was sitting in the shade in my shop with a fan blowing on him.

I got done and wet myself down with the hose. My skin was dryin less than a minute. He insisted on taking me to the local ER where my body temp was 104.

Long story short, I have never fully "gotten over it". So be careful because it can kill the **** out of you.
