Lots of slants still in the cars. They quoted me $250 for a slant, that sound skyhigh, but I don't know if that is scrap price or the going rate these days. I came across a 70 Sport Fury too, a rare find.

Sorry about the pics, I couldn't get them to load...

Scrap is around 11-13 dollars per hundred pounds. 250 seems real high.

Around here, there is no telling what a slant is going to list for on CL or in a junkyard. I have seen running engines go for $100, but have also seen cylinder head cores list for $300. There is a guy north of here selling a rebuilt slant for $3200. Just no rhyme or reason to any of it.

I gave a way a /6 motor (and drove it over) and sold one for $40. Slants are cheap around here on craigs, like come and get it, but if its rebuilt or sold as running, they are 2-300. Go figure.
At my pick-a-part, every motor is $175 (half price sale coming up!) whether its a Kia disposable 4, bulletproof slant 6 or an exotic quad cam AL 32V MB V8.

i had no problem buying a running slant for 200 and up. the one in my car came from a member here. it was a running 225 with 904 for i believe 250 bucks. now i may not be in my right mind, but what can you buy for these cars that can do so much for 250 bucks. hell a gas cap alone is 35 bucks, and what about 200 for a front fender, a carb is close to what i paid for my motor and tranny, and ive been driving the hell out of the motor and getting 20 MPG. to me, i feel like i got a great deal for the money. when is the last time you were at a swap meet and sellers offered you there parts for the price of scrap... me thinks some people need a reality check, or im living in the wrong century.

One other thing, there are junk yards, and there are scrap yards here on the west coast, and there nothing alike. scrap yards sell for scrap prices, junk yards sell as partsprices. just be glad you found one with any A bodys.

round here, the guy that has a small mopar boneyard,, and he has slants that been sittin there for the last ten years and NO buyer, he figures scrap price to a guy that comes in and wantin one,,, scrap price is fair!!??
all depends where you are..... but you are right, a good runnin slant, complete... (they are ALL high mileage) is worth the $150-200 for a GOOD one........thing is most are woreout, bad compression, needs rebuild, but tough as they are, still run pretty good!!!!!

you guys dont take into account that it may be a no sell service yard. your having to pay to have it pulled
