which tach is correct for 71? one has a 5500 redline the other does not.

maybe a big and small block tach difference? 340 loves over 6000, big block..not so much...

I believe the one without the red line was out of a 71 340 demon. I don't know what the other was out of. Old age must be setting in I just don't remember. I need to choose one for my car I have the other sold with the complete dash I pulled out of my duster project..

doesn't anyone have a 71 that came with a factory tach That would know which is correct for a 71? Could it be a big block to small block difference as stated? I would like to sell the one I don't need to a member and will not part with any until I am sure on which is correct for my car.

Hey steve, here is a link from another member that has the "redline" style, looks like 71 only. I know my 69(same rpms) has NO redline, and my "sweep pattern" is the same. Looks like thats the one I am keeping Thanks for the info. I'm going out to look I think I had another one. I put things away years back so they wouldn't get lost. But now I don't remember where I put them. does that happen to anyone else. I am positive I have another one here with the harness plugged on the back. I'm going on a mission I'll be back after the race.
