Hi Folks - I have a '64 Barracuda with a later 4-speed. I have an old speedo cable that kinda works, but I'd like to replace it. The problem I'm having is that all of the ones that are supposed to be the correct size are too long!

My old one measures 54" from flange-to-flange. (Not including the threaded fittings.) All of the ones I find online claim to be the right size, but are 61". I got one, and installed it, but I had to work hard to get it NOT to hit the headers, and I'm not completely happy with it.

Does anyone know what vehicle might have come with a 54" cable? (Or - how are these measured??? Maybe it's 55"?) I've struck out, and a lot of places don't put the length on the short description, so I have to click on each damned one.

I just received mine from Brewers and just went out and measured it and its 58" long, not sure if this would work for you.. And that baby isn't cheap.

Thanks! I'll check them out. BTW - exactly how is it supposed to be measured? Flange-to-flange? Length of the spinning cable? Fitting-to-fitting?

If I measure the furthest point to furthest point I get 59 1/4. That's from the end of the plastic bump on the Speedo to the end of the spinning cable. But I'm not sure what's the correct way to get a measurement. The previous measurement (58) was without the plastic gear on it.

Unless you get one custom made, the closest factory cable that has the correct ends (small thread-on for the speedo, and large thread-on for the speedo gear housing) would be the '66-7 cable. I'd order it for the '66 in case '67 may be a tad longer.

That's what I'm running in my 65. Can't remember if it's a 66 or 67 cable, and I have no idea what length it is, but it fits perfectly.

Edit: I think I used a B body cable, but it's been so long I can't remember.
