I need to replace the transmission driven gear in a 904 to calibrate the speedo due to a rear end change. From what I've read it sounds like there is a bit of a trick to index. Can someone offer some help here?
Thanks,
Don

Don on the speedometer pinion adapter housing there are 3 sets of numbers. Sorry but I don't remember exactly what they are but their something like 24-30, 31-36, and 37-42. These correspond to the number of teeth on the speedometer gear. For instance if you have a 34 tooth gear set it to the middle setting. I allways install the housing and gear assy. in the lowest number position (24-30) cause that gives plenty of distance between the gear teeth on the output shaft and pinion teeth so they don't bind up. Then I turn the housing to where it needs to be and install the retainer.
