Hey guys,
I put a new starter on about 2 weeks ago and starting this week when I start my dart, I get a horrible whizzing sound for about 20-30 seconds before it goes away. I sounds as though its coming from my starter area. :wack:

What is the likely hood my starter is staying engaged? Also, if this is the case, what do I need to do to correct this? I know on the Chevys I worked on there were shim packs, but I don;t know if the same holds true for Mopar. Thoughts?

.............is the inspection plate on, if bb u need the little plate that fits behind the starter.........or u got a defective starter..............kim...............

You should use the new mini starter but your fly wheel may have some damage to the teeth.

Flywheel looked good when I checked it out during the tear down two months ago.
Its a 318 with a NAPA brand stock replacement.
The inspection plate is on.

I am leaning towards a bad starter. Relay is also new.

It might be the ignition switch...I don't really know how the a-bodies ignition switches, but on a more relevant car, that would be the switch.
