First of all, thanks for the help with the fender question I had, it felt to late to say it there and re-open the thread.

Okay, so I am now putting bondo on the duster

I was wondering how do I get the panel back even again since I have only sanded the primer to metal in select areas. Do I go back and spray only the places where metal shows? Then block sand again? Or do I just spray the entire car with the final primer once Im ready, and block sand it even? I hope im making sense.

And also, I still see black "rings" around the bondo where the primer did not sand off. Does this mean I need more bondo around the outside of the area? Thanks.

The rings are low spots, you are sanding off to much plastic. How long is your sanding block? It should be at least 12" on long panels.

And I better say this before I get hounded by body pro's. If you notice that I was only sanding in one direction, I just now read that I should sand in an "x" pattern. It makes sense, so I'll starts doing it.

Edit: And the sanding block is over 16".

Ok the block is good. Do one side of the body line at a time ie. top or bottom and keep a yard stick/straight edge handy to check your work. Check often while sanding so you dont sand to far down in those areas. Hope this helps. Noel

Knowing when to switch grits is important too. Go to too fine a grit too soon and you'll just polish the spot instead of getting it flat.
