the pin you have to knock out is tapered, look for the "wide side"of the hole and knock out from the other.

The three i have taken apart the pin is a straight split roll pin. Plus the couple rebuild kit I picked up at the local Dodge dealer came with a stright split roll pin.

They will ome out from either direction but rust can make it a bear.

DGC333, Anyone else whom knows. Once the pin is out, the coupler should seperate. Correct?

That's where the "rust" will be a "Bear?" Below, is where I'm at now. It will not come apart. I'm wonder if I need to get tuff on it.
(Now wheres that tuff guy hat I used to have? He he he.)

That "Roll Pin" was a red plastic peice. It is out now.

Yep, coupler should come off after the "straight" roll pin is out. Go ahead and beat the heck out of it if you're replacing the box anyway. I'd bin the whole lot and get a Flaming River U-Joint if I had it to do over again.

I have a manual box in the garage that I beat on and put heat to and couldn't get the coupler off. The Dart I parted out looked worse but I knocked the pin out and it came right apart.

I've taken a punch that was exactly the same size as the roll pin and knocked it right out before. It was easy. Used the same method to put the roll pin back in. The coupler came off with the help of a pry bar.

The Flaming River U-Joint is a excellent suggestion.
