Hey guys im goin to replace my original steering box with a flaming river unit. Now i need to replace the couplet/u joint. What size is it, an/or how do you measure it. Im not to sharp on suspension and steering so any input would be great. 69 valiant...

Going to probably order the flaming river unit. Its a bit pricy but i might as well just buy it one time. Ive never changed the steering box and can't seem to find a thread on how to do so.. Anyone have any tips or some schooling on it?

to take the stock one out just unbolt it (3 bolts on frame i believe) and remove the pitman arm nut with cotter pin
then there is a hole in the coupler for the shaft and the box you need to punch the roll pin out that is in the hole and then unbolt the steering column and move it back and the box should come out. you dont have to drop the column just unbolt it so it slides on the mount. There is i think 4 bolts that go into the column from the mount to the dash and three to the firewall .
I am sure someone on here has pics and can help chime in.
