Steering column help.....yes or no

Gonna put a new coupler on and also want to know about the lower column bearing/bushing.

My car is a 71 Demon, 4 speed and right now.......I see nothing there. Some say there should be a bushing, some say they didn't come with one.

Please let me know if I should have one down there or not.

I don't have a bushing on my 72. iirc no bushing a 71 either.

My 71 had no bushing there.

Where there isn't a support bushing, pack the end of the tube with a rag and put a visegrip on the shaft against the end of the tube. All out effort to protect that tiny bearing under the steering wheel.
