Steering column to transmission

Hello. I have a 1950 Chrysler windsor/New Yorker. I switched out the engine and placed a 318 with a 727 tranny. Is there a way to connect the transmission to the original steering column that had “3 on the tree” instead of having to put in a floor shifter? I found this that may work but not sure:

It “might” if you were using an OEM column that used a column shift. It might be able to work using either the reverse/1 or 2/3 pattern. Have you thought about swapping to a regular later column shift steering column?

I am hoping to be able to use an 80 or so tilt, column shift steering column in my 47 Dodge and fabricate the linkage to operate an A500 transmission.

Would love to see some pics of your 50 and the motor swap!
