1972 Demon with 400 BB, manual steering. The steering shaft is rubbing the exhaust and header slightly as pic shows. It was this way when I bought the car, any suggestions as to how to file ,grind down exhaust somehow.

Had the same problem on my duster when I actually swaped my headers for some aftermarket ones. I just ground down the shaft connector. Plus with the aftermarket headers I was able to heat them up and beat em a little bit till there was enough clearance.

I might take a look at the motor mounts, it looks like the pass side is too low or drivers side too high. I know it's supposed to be close but a stock manifold shouldn't touch if all is correct.

It dont look right to me. Where the steering gear is manual the small portion of the shaft should be much longer. That looks like the shaft for power steering . Could be that someone broke the shear pins and extended that shaft. I could be totally wrong too.

Talked to the guy that is working on the trans and he said that he had looked at the motor mounta and they are buggered up with the left one being welded to the frame and the right one not correct also, so he is going to try and get it corrected, He has done all the work that I have need over the years and is a Mopar guy. Thanks for allof the input.
