Stock 904 Trans - What Fluid

-
Type F (aka Ford's old shool ATF) grabs tighter, slips less. I run a 50/50 mix of synthetic and type F in the transaxle of my turbo minivan and have had no issues in over 50k miles (the A-413 is a derivative of the 904 internals).

Dexron III would be a logical choice (all current automatic transmission fluids are far superior to the fluids available when our cars were new). Mopar ATF+4 is a synthetic which works great and is available at Wal Mart and any parts house. Some swear by the Ford fluid which has more friction modifiers, others don't see the need. No need to spend stupid amounts of money here, just buy plenty of clean fluid (never re-use). For a fluid+filter change, any brand is fine. Wal Mart's "Super Tech" is packaged by Warren Distributing, which is a major auto wholesaler. The stuff is pretty much all the same regardless of brand.
