I have been reading on here for awhile now and it seems if you try and put a v8 in a /6 car the exhaust is usually a pain to route. I have a 63 Dart and I realize they did not have a v8 option although the 64 on up did. If I were to try and put in a v8 and make the needed firewall changes for the distributor, wouldn't a stock type exhaust work just fine? I hear problems on the driver side with the steering column and other clearance problems. I can understand when you use headers they might not fit right in but if I were to put the stock exhaust setup in, would I still have the clearance problems I keep reading about? Did the 318s in the stock 64's use a y pipe or a dual exhaust? If I were to do a swap, I would want to run a dual exhaust but if using a y pipe really simplified things, I could live with that as I am not looking to build a super fast car, just one that gets around a little quicker.
