Some dumbass figured they could fix this padded dashboard by taping over the cracks and then fiberglassing over the whole damn thing. WTF??? I Want to send it out to have it redone since mine has the steel core backing. So I stripped the fiberglass off of it today to save some labor on their end. But the people who do the best job on these are out in California. So now I need to take pics of it and send them to them for a quote. Then I guess I got to bite the bullet and send it all the way out there.

What a mess

WTF was I thinking.
So I hit the scale this morning. Down 9lb this week. I'm blaming it on the heat from this last week.
Anyway. Just a Candy Bar for Breakfast that I grabbed on checkout doing food shopping.
Hit the Garage to finish getting the GTO finished for my son.
Grabbed a shower and ordered lunch.

2. Setting the base adjustment

Remove kickdown linkage from carburetor: Disconnect the kickdown linkage rod or cable from the
carburetor throttle lever.

Manual wide open throttle (WOT): Push the accelerator pedal to the floor, manually holding the
throttle open to its wide-open throttle (WOT) position.

20250802_153237.jpg

Adjust linkage at transmission end: With the throttle held at WOT, push the kickdown linkage rod or
cable all the way back towards the transmission until it stops.

20250802_153406.jpg

Slide t the rod onto the throttle stud: While still holding the throttle at WOT and the linkage pusihed
back, the linkage adjustment rod or cable end should slide onto the throttle lever stud with
approximately 1,/16th of an inch of clearance, without any binding or being forced into position.

20250802_153423.jpg

Adjust if needed : If the fit is too tight or loose, adjust the length of the kickdown linkage rod using
the adjustrent mechanism (e.g-, screwing a slotted adjustment bar in or out) until the desired
1/16th inch clearance is achieved

Release throtle and reinstall linkage: Release the throttle, then reinstall the kickdown Iinkage and
any return springs

3. Fine-tuning and testing

So when I went to Carlisle I brought along my original numbers heater core to have Bob over at Glen Ray radiators test it for me. He told me he doesn't test them. He said I only recore them. $200. Uhhhhh. No I'll take it home and test it myself. Was not leaking in the car and it still had fluid in it when I took it out. Now I have tested it under 40 lb of air pressure underwater. I think it is good.

Shelley and I went to Downing to do some weeding and trimming. I kept sawing and I have quite a pile to clean up. More to go. Some dead limbs and volunteer mulberry trees. :BangHead: :BangHead:

One of my former buildings in the city.
The neighbor had huge Mulberry Trees in their yard growing over my roof.

Always clogged up the roof drain.
Lots of happy Squirrels drinking the fermented juice.

Kickdown? Are you getting full travel at full throttle?
Went back through the steps I posted earlier. Getting ready to test drive again here in a bit

Disconnect at carb

Depress accelerator to WOT

Ensure kickdown on transmission all the way to the rear

Slide rod through linkage plate on the head

Adjust kickdown length with 1/16 play

Reattach to carb stud

Not sure what else to do at this point

They got some weeding goin' on out east of here about 75 miles, 24K acres of it. Started yesterday afternoon, didn't see the smoke until the Marines went back to sea today. PhozChek bombers are busy down the road at the airport. :( The highway over to the San Joaquin Valley is closed again. Good thing I didn't have plans to go that way for autosport activities. :BangHead:
