Stop in for a cup of coffee

to all the FABO Family, may you have a joyous and thankful day, may all the food you eat at zero weight to the bottom line, and you visits be peaceful.
(gotta get laundry done, off to Church service and watch Wife cook lamb chops. it'll be nap time soon!)

A little rant.
My wife left saturday for BC. Everybody around me knows my situation. My best friend Ron has been off on vacation for 2 weeks and is hanging out every day, working on his truck. Feeds the shop pellet stove and helps me move stuff. And in the evenings my son stops by to check on me and loads pellet stove in basement..

Here’s the thing- if a friend’s spouse goes away for a few days, we always try to make a point to invite said friend for meal. A few have taken us up on the offer, but it seems none seem to be offering me the same courtesy. Other than Ron, but i see him every day, dont want to hang out in evenings too. Although his wife is an excellent cook.

Should this bother me or am i overthinking it?
Im not one to show up on a doorstep looking for a meal even though some said it was ok. I’d prefer an invitation.

You would think in your situation they would at least offer

I get it Frank. I have done so many favors for neighbors and always get screwed over in the long run.
Just ran into something similar here a few days ago. Neighbor bought himself a wood lathe for his birthday, and he “just stopped by to chat”.

He’s NEVER “just stopped by” before.

Conversation quickly went to something like, “Do you have an engine hoist?” (And I’m pretty sure he knows damn well that I do.)

4 hours later, after getting the lathe off his truck and it into his shop using MY TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT, I could get back to finishing my projects (winterizing everything and getting ready for the snow).

So I’m out there, in the dark, moving things around and pulling the batteries out of trucks, boats, and campers, when I see him walking by with his little “kick dog”. Doesn’t look my way, doesn’t offer to help, doesn’t even wave….

I guess for Thanksgiving this year I’ll be thankful I busted my *** and worked late so I could get all of my winterizing done JUST IN TIME, as it started snowing the very next day.

And I have a lady wanting me to work on her 65 chevy truck. It has a leaking rear main seal. I know she thinks because I am retired I have time. I told here I don't have time. She can't find anyone to do it wah wah wah.

I get people that never stop over for a visit looking to have me fix something on their car all the time . Never offer money just the normal (could you replace my windshield) mostly.
