I've been running a 408 for 3 years now but I've decided to take it up a notch. I'm gonna get a shortblock built and use my top end, ported eddies and matched rpm intake. What combo of cam and compression do I need to run around 550hp?
Seems like everyone sticks with the 4" crank, why not the 4.25 ? Longevity ?

Well, I'd have to say the the 4.25 is so new and not often used due to the lack of info on the super stroke crank on longevity. Some suggest the stroke is a bit to long for longevity due to side wall load, piston rock since there so short in height.

I still plan to build one though it will take a while to get it all together. The short block is the last thing I build. Once the short is built, I assemble the rest of the engine with all the other parts laying in wait.

I switched from a 4" to a 4.125". Though I am pretty limited on the airflow both in and out of the motor it pulls hard to 7200. The torque is insane. A decent solid roller and 11:1 compression with good heads should get you there no problem. Do it.
