Well, I finally got started tearing the car down to pull the small block and 727. I had been posting on here a while back when getting the car dialed in with LA setup. I am on break from MSU for winter holiday's so I am excited about my first engine swap. It feels good to do some real work now that I am back home away from the books.

Now for what's going in it, I know I have posted some here before but for those that dont know.
501 CI
INDY
COPE-727
Mad Dog 2" headers
Schumacher mounts

Here's how it sits now, prob gonna pull the torsion bars tomorrow to try and snake the tti's out. That's all I have left before the engine/tranny comes out. I think I have a buyer for everything but the fuel tank if anyone needs it. It is in good shape but I don't have a picture.

It did good for what it was, stamped steel rockers and all ha. The new motor came up for sale and someone wanted to buy the small block and i dont think i could have upgraded the small block to the point of the big block for the money difference.

And yes! No more having to drop to second gear for hwy romps ha.

The 360 on the way to its new home, not too far away. I am gonna miss this little guy, it was a good running engine. I wish I could have afforded to keep it and drop it into a driver or something else.

So I have a question for anyone with experience. Did y'all set the motor/trans on the k frame then drop the car on it? Then try and snake the headers in? Or option b is leave the k frame in the car and see if I can drop the motor/tranny in like the way the 360 came out. Prob have to pull the hood this time if I do it that way. I think this way would be easier to put the headers on cause I could adjust the difference between the block and frame.

I usually put the headers off to the side (in the engine bay) and try to drop the block in (works great if the heads are off) but it worth a try! Never failed me yet, but, I have never done it w/ TTI's

Engine, trans ,k frame and headers assembled and then drop the car on it.

2" ttis? These headers can be put on one tube at the time. And I couldn't get the torsion bars out last week which is making me lean towards dropping the motor/trans in.

i dropped my 383 with 727 attached with my tti headers bolted to the engine. i had the whole front suspension in also. just had my dad steer the tail shaft and i worked the front of the engine. i had the car up about a foot on jack stands.

Stock K frame?

yup thats how we did mine. 383 BB TTI's and a 4 speed

X3, I dropped the car over my assembled 440/tranny/ 2" TTI headers/kframe/front wheels & tires.

When you remove the kframe bolts and lift the front end, you should be able to wiggle out the torsion bars.

Well it's in the car. Me and a buddy from school dropped it in from the top to test fit the oil clearance notch and it's sitting on the mounts now. I did it this way since we headed to jacksonville fl for the gator bowl and I wanted it in the car before we left. Any of y'all from Illinois?

Sweet-wish I could make some progress on my BB swap, but not enough spare time or money right now...gotta wait til I get back from my upcoming assignment to Hickam.

Click the image for one of the first start ups of the wedge. Finally glad to have it running, but still have to do the exhaust, air cleaner, and drive the thing. Taking it to Cruisin the Coast in three weeks so its coming down to the wire.

What air cleaners do you guys run with the dominators?
