Stroker oil pump tricks

Hey members. Got a Help Question. I Am Building my first 360/408 stroker. I Have The Book And Have read a few articles and some of your builds. My question is . A Melling high volume oil pump I will use ,I want to move the pickup tube to the end cap, I'm also taking the stock pan cutting it at the radius and adding a 2 inch wide strip for 5 qrts. and less windage. Soo Any tricks part numbers or suggestions , Please give me all . Thanks .

Cut and weld the pick up to match the pan depth.
Port the oil pump and main cap for more flow.
