Stupid strut rod roll pins

So any hints to getting the Strut Rod Roll pins out? Tried tapping with a hammer - no budge, tried pulling with a pair of vice-grips - no budge.

Just soaked them down with pb blaster and will be back at it tomorrow with a soft blow and a brass drift.

Roll pins are real hard and since they have a slit down them they are really hard to drill. How about using the correct sized roll pin punch? That's what I always do.

BTW: Since you already tapped on them with a hammer and squeezed them with vise grips they are probably all screwed up on the ends so you'll probably need to grind the screwed up end off.

once you get them out just use cotter pins...

Good tips. I only beat on the one side, and tried the same side with the vice grips, so I might still be able to use the punch. Will track one down tomorrow and then give it a go. I wish I had a garage at my compartment cause then I could just run out and try some of the great tips I get here!

I had to soak one of mine with PB Blaster, drive it in, spray some more, drive it back out. It finally gave up and drove out. I used dead blow hammer and the right size pin punch.
