Launching at a lower RPM may actually help the 60Ft times. If the torque converter is good, it will give the engine a run at the stall point and load it all a little harder. if the converter isn't up to the task, it won't help much. My old car had about the same power as yours and it thrived with as much starting line gear ratio, as I could give it. I'm talking big super stock wheel stands and consistent 1.46 60ft times, at 10.75 ET's, at 3350 pounds.

IMO 5000 sthal. 4:46 gear, keep the 727, the stall and the gears may get you .2-.3 less, with 10.5x28 it should rpm@ around 7000 at the trap
