anything 318s from stock builds, mild builds, to the rocket ship builds. paint scheme on the motor stall converter/tranny/diff/tires are welcome if you feel necessary.

mine is a mild build, i wanted daily driver/with head turning power behind my foot, frequent stoplight racing. and able to pitch it sideways no prob. (74 dart sport rallye) i love fluorescent green and black scheme.:burnout:

freshly rebuilt, mainly stock, balanced/blueprinted, weiand stealth intake, 4 barrel edelbrock, headman headers, flowmasters.

No paint, the 318 doesn't get any.
Collecting parts for a 360 and putting them on the 318 just for kicks.
Stock rebuilt with an Eddie dual plane and a 1406 600cfm.
I drive it everywhere, every day.
Right at 18 on the hiway if I drive like an old lady. :D

Damn I need to clean up that engine bay.

No pics, ages ago. Stock 68 short block. Home ported J's,1.88/1.60's 273 rockers,Crower 224@ .050 110 l/c tight lash solid,.464 lift. Cheapie Flow tech 15/8 headers. Thrown, into a beat up ,blue 4 door Dart. El Cheapo.

Beat this motor for a long time 11 yrs.
Original 318 out of my 71 challenger.
Dipped the block new cam bearings.
.010 /.010 stock crank.
Stock pistons /rods with iron rings
71 "J" heads opened up to 2.02 using Titanium valves and springs, locks, keepers from MP no porting done. (Waste of money but I was in my teens $500 just for the parts back then)
Weidian team "G" manifold 650 holley DP.
Cam dynamics 268 cam.
You could not break this engine.

My 318 is a stock bottom end from a mid to late 70's car. (cast crank, rods, pistons.) Its got keith black silvolite cast pistons that are .060 overbore, with 4 valve reliefs and they are .070 down in the hole...(remember late 70's low compression)

I did a rering job, honed the cylinders, emory clothed the crank journals and installed new main, rod, and cam bearings. Assembled the short block with a comp cams double roller timing chain, a timing chain tensioner from a magnum engine, and the MP windage tray kit, with a HV oil pump.

The cam & lifters I used is an Edelbrock Performer RPM kit. 234/244 @ .050 and 488/510 lift and a 112* LSA.

For the heads, they are the RHS/Indy X heads prepped by Brian @ IMM with 202/160 valves, 5/16 stems, and beehive springs for a lightweight valvetrain combo. They have a 62cc closed chamber.

I used Hughes Engines 1.5 roller rockers, and custom length comp cams chromoly pushrods.

The intake is an Edelbrock Performer RPM with a holley 650 spreadbore carb. It is, IMO, a very responsive carburetor.

To finish it off, I used TTI headers.

This engine is in my '68 Barracuda fastback, with an 8 3/4 and 3:55 suregrip. Rebuilt 904, red clutches, kolene steels, 4.2 lever, HD band strut, HD accumulator spring, with a TransGo II shift kit. 3000 stall PTC converter.

I haven't been to the track so I don't know what it runs or what I have for horsepower... 310 HP maybe??

cmon, post it. mines not that crazy at all, just a mild build. I need to meet up with mike one day so we can see what it'll do at the strip. not expecting much though.

Budget mild build,

Late 70s 318 block DIY rering and bearing
Small valve 360 heads
torker 340 intake
eddy 600
340 camshaft
flowtech headers to 2 1/2 w/ X pipe and thrush welded muffs out the back.

I haven't got too much seat time yet but, It lays rubber pretty good! I speculate its somewhere near 250hp and 300 tq at the wheels. Hoping to one day slap a supercharger on it to take advantage of the low compression.

Haven't got a good in car picture yet.

Not currently in a car (actually in my Dakota) but here's the combo that was good for 247 rwhp and 265 rwtq
stock 97 318 magnum bottom end
mag heads 1.925 intake, 1.625 exhaust ported intake 243 cfm @.500" lift exhaust 180 cfm@ .500" lift
Mopar R/T cam 204 208 at .050 hydraulic roller .487/.496 lift with the 1.7's
1.7 ratio crower rocker arms
M1 efi manifold with ported TB
Hypertech performance tuner
Edelbrock headers

If you feel bad about posting your combo, I'll make easy for you.----I have no shame. But I do have a starting point! Getting the block cleaned and bored is the last step before assy.

What was the gain in using a magnum tensioner As opposed to the la tensioner? Never heard of doing this.

I thought it was a v-6 / magnum thing...Thats why I said it was from a magnum. I've never seen a LA engine come with a tensioner.
