Temp brakes for a 8 3/4

Does any body know if I can put the brakes from my 7 1/4 axle on the 8 3/4 axle as a temp deal. Im parked on an incline and need the emerg brakes.

My brother did, he had a housing with no backing plates. I think he elongated a hole, and they work perfect.

From what I've been reading is the 8 1/4, 8 3/4 and Dana 60 all use the same housing ends. I know SW has a picture of what the housing looks like. If it's the same then you shouldn't have a problem.
