EDIT ..........Oh, and this is using the "new" Canon 5D mkII I just got yesterday!!!

I had ordered a couple of eGag adapters, one for the Tamron Adaptall-2 lens series, and tonight "for a quick shot" dug out the club/ monster Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 200-500mm f5.6. And if that ain't enough, it comes with a dedicated 2X converter which I did not try tonight.

I turned on the "ISO expansion" which seems to have worked out to 25600 (H2 in the menu) This was on a tripod, and shutter speed worked out to 1/250, and taken using the self timer to allow things to settle down a bit. One is the fullsize frame but scaled down, and the doorbell crop is full size. Bear in mind it is DARK

No, comma, it is NOT auto focus or auto anything else. "Back in the day" with the proper setup it would have been "auto aperture" on applicable film bodies of the day

For comparison, this was taken with a Canon 50mm 1.4. Since the 5D is a full frame, this lens replicates the old school 35mm "we used to buy" which often came with a 50 or 55mm "normal" lens

The above photo is the full frame size, just scaled down to fit the forum. The same is true of this shot from the 500mm, this is the full size frame

I got a 500mm for my Pentax 67 - added the Pentax 2x and 1.4x Teleconverters, and a Pentax 67 to Canon EF adapter to my Canon 5D to try to get the moon bigger...the focus ring is so far away, I haven't gotten it nailed yet...with the Canon 2x Teleconverter (effectively, a 2800mm lens at that point), the moon was bigger than the sensor, so had to take it off ;-)

Yeah - complicates the "can't reach the focusing ring while trying to get behind the rig to see if it's in focus, because it flies across the screen...I think I'm going to connect the laptop and use tethered mode so I can focus using the laptop screen as the 'viewfinder'

The lens is an aged 500mm for the Pentax 67 film camera (I really bought it to get a decent moon shot on film, but the darkroom I use has been closed since March for Covid, so I got a Pentax 67 to Canon EF adapter so I could mess around with it until the darkroom reopens.

Started with Mamiya 645 back in the early 90s when my wife moved into wedding/portrait photography - moved to Bronica ETRS to get leaf shutter lenses (up to 1/500 sync speed for daylight fill flash). Got back into film about 3 years ago when I found a B&W lab at the local arts center...after a year of looking at 645, I wanted bigger negatives, so I got a Pentax 67 - way bigger negative - next step is 4x5, but that takes more work
