I have a Thermoquad that seems to be leaking between the plastic body and the top of the carb, wet and covered with fuel. It also seems to be flooding. Any guess of whats causing it ? Stuck float ? Warped body ? Tried to get a rebuild kit today with no luck. I'll have to try Napa tomorrow.

Could be a stuck float or one or both of the O rings in the wells are bad. NAPA can get you a kit, that's where I got mine. These carbs are easy to rebuild, it's the adjustment procedure that will make you bald.

Here is some info that may help you.

The floats are notorious for becoming saturated with fuel and causing flooding. When you build it, get a pair of brass floats. Dude on ebay sells um. Borg Warner #11204 is the kit you want.

I took it apart and the bowl was full of dirt. I bet the needle and seat were junked up. I also have a set of brass floats in the other carb.

Put you a good WIX metal filter in the line when you get it done.

Already one there. This is a carb I just picked up. I can tell it was rebuilt not so long ago, all the gaskets are new. What ever it was on last must need a new gas tank.

Then whatchyoo even askin kweshtons for? Sounds like you already know what to do. lol

You might try this. Take it apart and carefully put it back together again.

I can't recall what it was, it's been too long, but it would hang up about 50% of the time I was putting it back together again, and it would prevent the body from fully seating. I think it was on the inside, right at the outer edge.

It may have to do with the float rods or what holds the rod.

Also, When you are putting it back together, If you tilt it sideways while it's apart and you are working it back together, the rods will slide out on you, and you may not notice. Gotta keep it level.

Hope this helps.

Cause Im trying to learn something here. I asked before I took it apart and maybe the info can help someone else.

That's why I used the misspelling and the LOL cause I was jokin with you.

I'm trying to extend you an olive branch, in case you've not noticed. ;)

Sometimes a float pivot pin can get slide outward and get trapped between the two sections. That's as good a way to crack the plastic bowl when you tighten the screws as trying to pry the bowl off when you've removed only eight screws and forgotten the two hidden under the choke plate.

Also, place both surfaces of the bowl on a flat sheet of glass. If there's any rocking at all, you can true the surfaces by rubbing them around carefully against a sheet of fine grit sandpaper/cloth placed on the glass.

Agreed about the soggy floats. The brass ones are best. And I've had the needle valve stick open from a worn-out rubber tip. Also make sure that the "O"-rings at the bottoms of the primary jet wells are the improved, leak-free type that are sort of like an "X" in cross-section.
