Has anybody ever put a list together or has done the hemi swap into an A-Body without buying all the aftermarket parts that make it easier. And can it be done? Just curious

would you consider motor and midplate stuff easier than bolt in stuff? cuz non of the bolt in stuff existed when i did mine. just saying it wasnt spectacularly exciting to do it from a cost or fabwork point of view.

I was just wondering if you can use the same front suspension or do you have to change all the suspension in the front? I'm not worried about modifying things, I was just curious

you will have to read up on the guys that did early abody swaps. there are a few of them in the build section to read through. i did a 67 so not an early abody

The steering box gets in the way. Can it work yes but the exhaust will be completely custom and tough to make. This was my mock up. I ended up putting a Gerst suspension in my car. This really gave me more room. It is a lot of work and will require skill.

I own the very first 5.7 swapped mopar, sponsored build by mopar performance and glendora dodge in 2006,I got pictures and part numbers for install if you need any help guys!!!

I am having this swap done now. A 392 into a 64 Dart. I went with the QA1 front coil over suspension with the new k frame kit. Orig 4 speed car, now with a TKX 5 speed, hydraulic clutch. The kit has most everything except brakes. Getting rid of the original torsion bars and steering components frees up some space but still a really tight fit. Exhaust manifolds we used are log type. We went with steel so we could easily cut and weld it as needed. Needed to cut the shock tower off on the pass side. PS pump needs a pressure reducer and the alternator needed relocation to the upper pass side where the original slant 6 one was located. Will need to pull the PS booster and master when changing spark plugs in the future. Fuel system has been updated for FI and larger diameter line, etc.
The trans tunnel was cut out for the TKX and shifter location remade in the floor. Almost done. Car weighs about 3000 lbs so it should be a lot of fun.

I mean you can but what are you like as a fabricator? As you would need to make engine mounts and pipes. Yea you can use log style but they rob power and a reason only on trucks.
Also as above these guys going tubular front ends which is after market and big money. Why not just use a kit, holley mounts a while ago were on sale got the engine and gear box mounts for 300 bucks and the headers for 700. I mean if thats breaking the budget a hemi swap probably out of the question regardless.

Alsolook at it this way the time it takes to fab all this stuff you could work and make more money to simply buy the correct part and come out ahead.

The Holley stuff is ‘67+ only, and even then only if the ‘73+ V8 k-frame is swapped into the ‘67-72 A-Bodies. They don’t have anything for the ‘63-66 A-Bodies.
