As I told my step daughter when she asked for Schaefer beer, "Whoa, can't go there." I knew a guy years ago who was really proud of his. "It gets 34 mpg." Maybe, but whenever he had to buy a part for it, it cost 10 times what something for an American car would cost. This was in the 80's.

But, whatever makes you happy. :poke::lol:

Since the 80s the internet has brought stuff from far off lands and made it readily available in middle America.

There is a guy repopping festiva parts now.

I can't even imagine how life was in the 80s without the tech we have now, I was born in the mid 80s and I can't believe how old fashion everything was then.

Everything is old fashioned to someone. My 87 Mustang is new-fangled to me. And I bought it new!

Change "Nash-Rambler" to "Festiva", and go get 'em!

We had the Yugo in the 80s.
 
ha when I was buying my 86 vette
It was in December of 86 and the 87s where out so I got it as a leftover
they sold Yugo's too
I remember thinking I could by 8 Yugo's for the $$$$$ I was spending on the vette
one for every day of the week and one for holidays...
My kid was watching some guy that finds cars and drives them
he found someone with a yugo and the guy said he needed two to make the one go but there where 3 or 4 things he couldn't fix cause they were all bad
I remember getting one in that 3 years old 15k on it every hose under hood was dry rotted
had to be 30 hoses ..I did a couple just to make it go away
I guess in 88 all Yugo's were recalled because they couldn't pass emissions...so an 88 is a rare beast in the US
 
I remember when the first Honda car arrived in KY in the early 70s. I went down to the dealer to see it and it was a little tin box with a handle sticking through the dash to shift gears. My did they evolve.
 
My sis had had a first gen civic
Thinking 79 or 80 cvcc was the last car that would pass emissions without a cat ...

She got a think 88 crx got over 200k never a problem then went to little sis thinking another 30k ...till clutch went bad
I put a clutch in it and beat it to death
Every day I would bury the tach over 9k
One day it started missfiring ..blew the head gasket...drove it for another couple of months....called it timex
Have a 18 honda in the shop now 200k
Blew its second head gasket and need a turbo
Est. $4500 heading to the junk yard
The mighty has fallen
 
I thought the Yugo`s were cute little cars, but constantly seeing them broken down alongside the road everywhere taught me not to even think about them.:)
 
sad but true I think 8 yugos are worth more the my vette now
35k on it I'd be lucky to get 15k
8 yugo with 4k each i think I could 16k
 
Need to buy 2 or 3 to make one go
One of the things this guy couldn't find was (i think) was a wiper motor....

Me and my high school best friend ALL-MOST put a Ford 302 in one. We were workin at the local Ford dealer who was the dealer for them back then. They took one back in arbitration. I forget what the time limit on it was for Ford to come take possession, but if they did not in that time frame, then it could be sold with a salvage title. However long it was, we waited with baited breath and on THE LAST DAY Ford called for it back. We had an engine and transmission already built and were getting ready to make up a cage and tube chassis. LOL We almost had one.

With me, I have plenty of time. It's the motivation and energy. .......and finances of course. I do ok for what we have though. At least I got Gladys running again and she seems to be fixed.
 

You just have to understand blue oval thinking. In 1958 they came out with a 4"x3.5" engine and called it 352. In 69' they came out with a completely different motor with the same bore and stroke. They called it a 351 so people knew they were not the same. Then they introduced 2 completely different 351's from that one.

Yeah, plus they called the 302 a 302 and 5.0 when it doesn't even round off either way. LOL I give them credit though. Ford got more from less. Just look how many versions of the 302 there've been. I've always liked their engine lineups right up to the 4.6. Then, they lost me.

running a shop,i run out of motivation quickly
have two young helpers ,so need to diag and help with 50% of the repairs ...i was so happy to spend a couple of hrs on the shop truck last week
so my day off i was mowing ,house work and some home projects ...sometimes i just want to sell off the shop and full time with my toys ,but with a 13 year old ..i need to hang in for another 5/7 years
at 63 ...i did not plan well
