I heard about Larry’s passing the other day but didn’t want to be the first to post about his passing. Some of our members will miss his porting talents.

RIP Larry Smith

Wow. Sounds like he really loved what he was doing. It's pretty rare to be able to do that. May he rest in peace.

If anyone had and heads or intakes at Larry’s this is from his Facebook page from his family.

On behalf of our dad Larry; I regret to inform, those who were not aware, that dad passed away last Sunday evening.

We as a family are experincing a great loss at this time. I know many of you all were customers of dads and have product at his shop. We are working towards organizing these items and will be shipping those back as soon as possible.

We humbly ask that customers message dads Facebook account with a description of what products were sent to the shop, a return shipping address, a good contact number and any pictures you may have available.

Most importantly we ask for patience during this time. We realize your products are important but please remember we are grieving the loss of husband, father, and paw paw.

Jaman Smith and Natalee Rogers

Sorry to read this, Larry did my heads and intake. He was a fine man.

I'm building an engine for a buddy and he just got his intake back from Larry a few weeks ago. It was delayed due to health issues but it seemed he was back in business. There is another head porter/mopar guy having health issues right now as well. Sad deal, and there is nobody to take the place of these guys

For sure a lot of the guys that do porting work are getting older. My buddy is 68 and I’ll be 68 in March. I started a winter list a month ago and penciled in five jobs and closed it. If Speedmaster heads go on sale I’ll buy a couple sets so I can do them at my Leasure and 8 sets of LS heads here. It sucks to hold someone’s project back if you aren’t up to hitting the shop everyday. My son had zero interest in learning the trade and with both being out of state there will probably be a “fire sale” when I pass away.

What comes to mind is Tim saying "getting old ain't for pussies" and that holds true for both the physical side and the emotional side. I'm still fairly young (never thought I would say that at 50) but most of my friends are ten years older and lately we often talk about everyday being a reminder that we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Do what you got to do to keep you healthy and keep your spirit strong because we all need guys like you to hang around and remind us that rolling up the sleeves beats writing a check every time!.
