Throttle bracket

I believe if u use a cruise control cable bracket u can bend how u need and everything lines up pretty close. I think there is another taller cruise bracket but I don’t think I have it. Kim

This is about the best picture I have of it right now.

Here are some more pics too, 4 bbl bracket in blue, 2 bbl brackets in gray.

Here 360 with Edelbrock 4bbl on 8022 alum intake D100 Truck with 727 trans, with the 4 bbl bracket. Real happy how the kickdown worked here and the road speeds associated with it.

To answer your question , yes, the 318/360 2bbl and 340 , 4bbl are different in many ways and so is the kickdown lever . You can change the bracketry or go with a Lokar system . the Lokar system eliminates the b.s. factory brackets (something the factory should have in the first place) basically trouble free . sometimes the factory changed brackets every year and/or body style , crazy .

So like many I don’t have full throttle travel.
Is this a 2 barrel bracket ? It’s 4 3/4 on the top. Is the 4 barrel
one wider on top? Found them on Classic Ind.

And I'm pretty sure the 68-70 340 AVS A Body throttle bracket is different than the 71-74 340-360 Thermoquad A body throttle bracket. The TQ has more throttle travel than the AVS does. The throttle cables are also different between the AVS and the TQ. I have modified many 2 bbl linkages to work on various 4 bbl swaps. I won't ever buy a cable kit. I kind of feel, if you can't make a mechanical linkage look nice and work correctly, maybe you should just buy a Chevy.

That’s what I thought. I’m guessing the 340 one will put the cable hold further up. Messed with it and can’t seem to get the cable (19 3/4)in the right place.
Thanks

When using the 318 2 bbl bracket, you need to cut the cable holddown part off, move forward 3/4-1 inch turn it vertical and tack weld it. I use a 10-12 inch piece of all thread clamped in the cable bracket, that way you can align it perfectly with the carb stud. You will probably need a small pc of steel filler welded on the bottom of the throttle bracket. I can make these look nice, grind down the welds and paint. No one has ever questioned my brackets. I usually build these brackets on the bench with the manifold right in front of me or when building the whole setup with trans mounted on the engine. I just sit in a chair, a lot easier that leaning over the fender. But then again, I have a few 5 gal buckets of linkages to cut up and use.

The 340 bracket is what you need. All A-Body throttle brackets are the same, 68-73, except some manual transmission brackets do not have the kickdown pin.
