So I installed the original thumbwheel radio in the dash of my 69 Dart. The radio has all modern electronics inside so that I an listen to the radio. But I have a question born by my ignorance (or inexperience) with this type of radio. How do you actually set the preset buttons on the radio?

I am not for sure, but I think that you pull out the knob that you want for the station you selected then push it back in to set it.

Where did you get it updated? I'd like to get mine done out of my 69 Dart .

There are several. Instrument Specialties, Retro Radio, Vintage Radio.

I had Instrument Specialties do my dash and radio, but they will just do the radio

We had the factory am/fm done by Wards in Alabama. $400. Good job but it still only puts out a few watts. Which is still shitty. Spring time is new stereo time for the cuda.

These vendor have radio's that will do 180 watts 4 channels.
It is better than stock and dose a good job for someone that just wants a good radio not one that will brake glass

I just sent mine to Ricks Radio conversion. He is a member on here . He was recommended by other members. $360 for basic upgrade , solid state + aux for MP3 or IPOD and he cleans it , no chroming but mines in good shape.

Mine was done by R and B Vintage Auto Radio. Their website is randbvintageautoradio.com. I believe the guy was based in Tennessee. He did an excellent job and I have no complaints. I believe most of these vintage radio restoration places use pretty much the same process for updating them, so you probably can't go wrong.
