Seems like the first of the year I tend to reflect upon life in general, and try to look at my glass as at least half full, not partially empty. It make me feel much better to do so, and maybe others doing so, thus will help themselves, too.
I got hit head on by a drunk 45 years ago, shattered my kneecap, cut the tendons into. Killed the other guy. He was drunk, racing his girlfriend back to town after a night out boozing. It finally healed, to this day I can't squat, off and on other problems. A piece of cartlage let loose once, and I had to crawl back to the house from the pasture on my belly.
I used to feel mistreated with this particular condition, till I saw a vet running a 5 k marathon with no feet. He had those artificial feet. Then I understand.... what am I complaining about?
Then I meet a woman that lost her only child in an auto wreck. Drunk driver. She told me how she will never get over that loss. Never. Ever. Then I understood.
The longer I reflect on life, this time of year, the more I thank God for, and realize how much I have to be thankful for, and how stronger I feel to face this new year.
Hope all will have a good year.
