These are thread repair "sleeves" that you tap oversize and thread in. They are not coils but an actual thin wall insert that matches the oversized tapped threads and has retention by the bottom threads being a little fatter in the cross section. I pulled a bad spark plug and one came out on the plug and I cant get it off. Did the PO use the sealer inside instead of outside or do they just stay on the plug, having to be replaced when you install a new plug? They are like 3 bucks a piece but finding one after you realize you need one ASAP is a bummer. It also says you need a driver tool to install. Being a tapered plug insert it seems you could just thread it 1/2 onto a spark plug and it would seat itself as the tapered plug seat would bottom and drive it in? I guess I have to buy one as I cant replace this plug until I get a new insert. Nice thing about them is yo can repair a aluminum head spark plug hole without taking off the head, just use the dual threaded tap and some grease, thread it into the old threads and itll pull the new tap in, cut and retain the chips, pull out and thread insert on tool and drive in, with sealer or not. I would hit the hole with a nice shot of shop air afterwords.
