timing chain cover??

what would be the part number for a 1971 timing chain cover? OR..how would I be
able to tell the year? thanks, -Shawn

For small blocks they also have 'sundial' date codes. See page 4 at The 1970 Hamtramck Registry "Date Codes 101" (Page 1) to see one with an early 1970 date code for reference.
