'74 Dart, 225 /6, A904. Getting ready to service the transmission and want to adjust the bands. I know what the specs are but want to make sure I have the right tools before I drop the pan and won't be able to go get some if I don't have it. What size is the lock nut on the adjusting screw and the square end on the screw? Thanks for any and all information!

5/16 square socket, inch pound torque wrench to about 100 to 125 inch pounds, ft pound torque wrench 50 to 100 ft lb, not sure what size the locknut is.

Thanks 66fs! I'm sure I've got a socket for the lock nut. It was the square socket I was going to buy.

5/16 square is a regular 5/16 12 point socket, no special square socket needed unless you only got 6 points. Torque 72 in/lb, then back off 2 (2.5 for V8 ) turns...you know the deal. locknut down to 30 ft/lbs.
Low/reverse is same under pan: 72in/lb, but back it off 4 turns.

reverse band jam nut is 9/16

factory adjustment for rear band...is /6 2 turns... v8 which has a double wrap band is 4 turns...

front band jam nut is 3/4....... 2 turns out
