hey guys. i was trying to adjust my ride height today and noticed i needed to tighten the drivers side torsion bar much more than the passenger side one to get it to sit level. is this normal since there is a left and right torsion bar or could they be damaged?

Just my imput...If they have never been changed there a good chance they could be stressed out a tad. Thirty years is a lot of ware time. As well...I could be wrong but seeing that the motors torque lift facture is involved could also effect the ware in the long run. (maybe perhaps, even as much as a drivers weight) over the years.

I use to count my turns but noticed they were still different. Now I just take my meaurements from the wheel well lip to a mark on the tire. I bounce the front a few times as well. Some guys take the measurement from the upper control arms stops. Although "I" like a lower front end look, it a good idea to ensure that there at least .5 -.75 gap so you don't bottom out going over a bump.

I noticed the same thing on my 68 Cuda. The torsion bars looked good but I don't know how old they are so I figured the drivers side may be weak.

Another thing that may constitute to having to adjust it more is if the rear springs are not equal pressure. In my case they aren't. I have the heavy duty springs and when I ordered them I was expecting them to be basically like stock springs that have the same arch. They don't. Their's not as much difference as the super stock springs have but it looked like the right spring had about 1" more arch than the left. I think that would cause more pressure to be applied to the front left.
