Trans problems

-
The input WILL have "a lot of slop." It may need a bearing, and may not.

It is probably fine. The front bearing is technically not the front bearing. The pilot bushing is the front bearing for the input shaft. Without its support, there will be some wobble, like Del said. Perfectly normal.

Shifter wobble is likely a worn out shifter unit. Other possibility is a worn transmission mount or even broken motor mount. Won't be internal from trans.

If by down, you mean pull to engage, then,Reverse plate on upside down. Thats the plate bolted to the shift lever,on the cover. To engage; should be whack it towards your knee and push it towards the dash. The plate should be pointing up.cheers
