Trans problems

Ok pulled the trans to put a new clutch in and the input shaft has alot of slop.So I need a new bearing.

It is a 71 model 833 non overdrive
will this work?

How much is to much becuse I do know it you are driving and get on it then come to a stop the shifter shakes then you press the clutch and it stops.

It might be the bushing in the crank...

Its really not that much and tje only play is in one way

It is probably fine. The front bearing is technically not the front bearing. The pilot bushing is the front bearing for the input shaft. Without its support, there will be some wobble, like Del said. Perfectly normal.

Shifter wobble is likely a worn out shifter unit. Other possibility is a worn transmission mount or even broken motor mount. Won't be internal from trans.

What should i do as far as greasing the input shaft and throw out bearing when putting back in

Ok put it all back togther and all the way left down is reverse it is wrong whats up

If by down, you mean pull to engage, then,Reverse plate on upside down. Thats the plate bolted to the shift lever,on the cover.To engage; should be whack it towards your knee and push it towards the dash.The plate should be pointing up.cheers
