what would the average temp of a built 727 be. this is a 410 sb with s475 turbo and 3800 converter, foot brake launching for now. looking at using my ecu to turn a fan on the cooler on at a set point.
cheers

I have a 727 with a 5000 rpm 8" PTC converter with B & M super cooler, it wont even get to 140.

thanks for the reply spacecowboy. i'm not worried so much about street driving, but the gauge will let me know what the street temp will be so anything too much above that will be me fan on temp i guess.

pan temp, I'd keep it under 175. If monitoring cooler line temps, kick a fan on above 210.

175 is normal: like a motor, they are designed to operate at a certain range, too low and moisture and acids form, to hot and they die prematurely. Hi-stall convertor or not, its the valve body that is still a somewhat stock component.
