I had to go get my cage recertified last weekend, and during the inspection, the local Div 6 NHRA Tech said he won't let me race without a blanket and flexplate shield this season. He was very adamant.

Spoke to A&A today and they said they haven't received any shipments for 904 blankets in 2+ years. No eta on when (or if) DJ Safety is going to be manufacturing them again. They said to call back in 60 days to see if they found another source.

CSR is dead and no one has their 904 shield in stock.

Stroud said they don't have blankets that will fit a 904 either.

Any suggestions are welcomed. If any of you guys have a solution that will work, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll be parked in 2026 :(

72 Scamp with a stock floor (which I don't want to cut). 3" deep pan.

Thanks in advance

eBay…

before i bought the CSR shield, i used a universal blanket.

I'll probably end up having to go with a universal. The Allstar Performance one above has dimensions that are similar to the A&A blanket. My only hangup is that Allstar doesn't recertify, so I'll have to get a new one every 2 years. But considering the lower price, I could buy 3 of the Allstars for the cost of 1 certifiable one.

that's what i did. replaced the blanket every 2 years

Personally I preferred the blanket…. I feel they would “absorb” the energy of failure over the CSR shield, BUT the blanket doesn’t satisfy the rules pertaining to “flex plate/flywheel” shield so that’s why the CSR was always the “go to” when 9 sec passes entered the chat. Another issue is that there’s probably not a CSR shield out there that is still legal. I know mine aged out years ago. I actually never sent it in for a recert in fear of never seeing it again. It took a LONG time to get it from them. When it did ship I called a friend and told him. He got his in a week. Solidified my theory that they were simply holding money until they felt they could “do a run” of said product. Personally I “get it”… pretty niche market, but I wish they’d say up front that they needed “X” amount of people to go into production.

mine is still legal. no mods to it after all these years. i sent it back 3 years ago to get a new bill of health and it was a good experience. i had no issues at all other then the amount i had to pay to get it re certed.

I run the Summit brand blanket on my 904

I ended up buying the Summit blanket today. Their blankets are made in the USA, so that made the choice a little easier. I'll still need to figure something out for the flexplate shield.

I run a CSR shield on my 904 , the certification expired years ago and it makes taking the trans out more difficult . I slowed my car down from mid 10s to run in the 11s and the shield isn t required but I keep it in for safety reasons . Cope recently started making a SFI trans case for 727s sure would be nice if he made them for 904s also . Perhaps the demand isn't there?

I think that case was intended to sell to the diesel crowd more than anything else, so the 904 won’t be coming down the pike I would think.
