Thanks. Yep going to try the easy stuff first.... easy fix, get fuel heat shrouding, use the Edelbrock heat insulation gasket.

What kind of shrouding did you use?... easy fix, get fuel heat shrouding, use the Edelbrock heat insulation gasket.
My 3/8" sending unit has a 1/4" return port. I used rubber line from the hard line to the port. In the engine compartment I bent a piece of 5/16 tube to bridge the gap from the hard line to the filter.I like it. How did you plumb the return into the tank? Also do you have a part number or any help with the heat sheath. Thanks!
something like Heatshield Products HP Thermal Sleeving 204002What kind of shrouding did you use?
Oh hell no. I ***** in the summer but this is when Florida kicks ***.move to my neck of the woods, its about 8 degrees right now
I like it looks nice. So if that is plumbed back into the canister vent line from the tank how did you vent your tank?My 3/8" sending unit has a 1/4" return port. The heat sheath is available at Advance or most any parts store in the performance section with plug wires and stuff. Runs about $12.

Dang that's nice tube bending.I routed the fuel line away from being trapped between the hot soaked block and hot soaked alternator.
Then routed firesleeve over everything back to frame rail past firewall.

You might just try just the sheath by itself and see if that solves your issue. A spacer or thick gasket would be next on my list, but that can bring hood clearance issues.
Do you run a functional hood scoop?
My personal theory is that the fuel heats up more from the line being close to the exhaust than heat off the engine itself.

Yeah and the car came with the carburetor already on it. I just went through and rebuilt it. I actually think it's an old Carter it doesn't have an Edelbrock badge anywhere. The 1406 installation instructions actually tell you to do that!
However, none of us ever read the instructions
