One of the first things I noticed when I found this car was the trunk lid being much higher near the rear glass on the passenger side than the driver side. I figured this was why the spare tire well had been taking in water and was the most rusted area of the car. I believe the lid is just warped. I don't see a way to adjust the height of the lid. When I was messing with it, pulling up on the lower drivers side edge, the lid separated from the hinge. It looks like it just sits in there. I don't think my sheer strength separated a welded connection. lol.

If I set the lid back into the opening lightly I can get both sides of the lid fairly close in height, but I'm not sure how to handle this lid not being secure to the hinge. Any thoughts?

Look at the hinge pins. They are famous for wearing out. That will cause the lid to stick up a bit. Bent hinge(s) and a bent/rusty lid can do it too.
