so in my buddys pinto demo derby car he has a 8 3/4 lol. i am trying to save it and get it under the scamp:) there is a junk dana 60 sittin around but for the derby u can only have 5 lug and this one is 8 lol. is there any way to get axels made for it with 5 lug? maby the ones from my 8 1/4? i could do that really cheap and it would be killer for him

If you were close I'd give you a 7 1/4 to swap in. The axle thing would be expensive. Why not just get something from the scrappers. You don't need anything special for a demo car. We use to weld up the spider gears for our cars, great traction.

On the Dana 60, you need to cut off the housing ends and put car ends on it. The ends run about 65-90 depending on where you purchase.

While you're at it, shorten it to whatever length you want and order axles.

Cass, aka Dr. Diff in Montana is really good for this stuff. Good guy and will tell you more than you'd every want to know about rear ends. He's on Moparts quite a bit.

ok. i would need to keep it as cheap as possible lol. it wont even need brakes. i have not seen the 8 3/4 but he and his uncle said it is so i believe it is. would there be any way to cut the dana housing down to the length of my 8 1/4 and just put the axels outta that into the dana? then it would just be the price of the car ends which i could pull off the 8 1/4

you could have the dana cut down to your cars width but the ends that you have may not match the bigger tubes on the dana and they dont unbolt they are welded. youd have to get new axles made up for the dana , they are bigger in diameter and differnt spline counts,
