I've got a Tuff Stuff 8509RCDP 100Amp dual groove pully. It started making a squeal/whine around 2000 to 2300 rpm. It also squeals on the AutoZone test machine.
TuffStuff Tech support told me they have "Never" heard of a tuff stuff alternator to make a squeal or whine noise. If a bearing goes bad it with growl or have a grinding noise.
They do offer a rebuild kit (#7700C $45,00) that has diodes a few misc. parts and the front bearing and rear needle bearing.
I asked questions about if there were any tolerances or special things to do when pressing in the needle bearing. he said that needs to be done by an alternator rebuild shop.
He also said that their bearings are proprietary and to only use that TuffStuff kit.
Has anyone else pressed in bearings on a TuffStuff alternator?
:BangHead:Can anyone advise me on this? I have a Advance Auto Refurbished 60A, should I just use that and abandon the TuffStuff?
