tunnel ram

As AJ had said somewhere else n the novel, a cam of 239@.050 with head work (bowl porting) would do it. The MP create engine uses stock Magnum heads. Bowl ported 2.02 heads you have will be very capable. I’d like to see at least 9.5-1 for a compression ratio.

Okay this coming from someone who's ran around for the last few years lol this hard tuning that's talked about I'm not quite sure what they're talking about it's quite easy to do and you just do the same thing to both carburetors you just got to do everything twice. I don't know where all this fuel wash is coming from that everyone's talking about? The car idles at 14.2 to 1 and is at 12.5 to 1 at Full Throttle? I don't know how this gas is getting by my O2 sensor? It almost be washing down into my oil before it gets there? My plugs running a nice grayish White must be missing all that gas washing buy them? I'm sorry but the subject here is tunnel ram pretty much yes or no? For this application probably not. I think there's a lot more to be learned about this car before any recommendations are made about anything. And a tunnel ram is for fun. Not for when one is trying to seriously get the maximum horsepower out of their car.

doesn't fuel wash mostly happen when the car is shut off?? That's why I said "short runs to the store" as a big contributor. RELaxxxx.....Jpar .. :D dual quads have been on the streets for years, nobody say'n they don't or can't work. Just like six pack set ups. They are cool, but it is totally not necessary in todays world to make power. Those that do either six pack or 8 barrel do it for themselves or the wow factor of others. And if the OP wants 400 hp and believes dual quad is the only way, we are just saying it is absolutely not necessary. In fact, today 700-800 hp motors are nicely fed through one carb.

And agreed as stated in the last two sentences of post number 52?
Proper carb tuning!

Lol @ J Par

318WR As I understand fuel wash, washing down the cylinders, etc... It is a (super!) overly rich condition, normally carb related but it could be ignition, shot piston rings or poor intake design that leads to fuel getting past the piston rings and contaminating the oil. The problem can lead to rings not doing there job. IF the rings were up to it to begin with!

Most people “THINK” it is because the carb is to big. While there is a hint of truth to that, as you know a overly large carb on an engine that is t up to snuff to use it, will have metering problems and to much fuel is drawn through just to get it to run.

Example, 1050 Dominator on a stock 180hp 273.

Now how about that NOS system that's under that carb! Does it work? There's your power adder!

And it can happen in just second(s) at WOT......6000rpm is 100 per second, and a rod bearing can weld itself to the crank, spin around, and jam it up, get hammered flat, squeeze itself out the side, and make an awful racket. And don't ask Me how I learned that, lol .
If you're gonna spend a lotta time over 6000 then you need to make some oiling mods. I think there is a sticky on that; if not then there should be.
A 276 cam probably peaks around 5500 in a 340. With a regular A727 (close ratio, lol, trans), the shift point is usually about a 1000 rpm higher, so 6500. That will want the mods to keep the rods alive. With the A998(wide-ratio trans) and GVOD, the powerband requirement is only about 1300, so you can shift it at around 6100. That's another good reason to split gears. Now the mods are optional. And if you go the hi-flow aluminum heads/ smaller cam route, then the power peak will drop 200ish rpm and the shift speed as well, so now you're under 6000 with that splitter-deallio.
Yes I know the 200rpm lower peak is worth 20 hp or so.....SO what, the splitter is worth like 40 or more, over a 727.
Ok maybe I'm being obtuse.
What I mean is; OPINION coming;
:is, that the 340; with hi-flow aluminum heads and a 270 cam and the 998/splitter deal,and a 2400TC will trap the qtr as if it had;a 276cam (maybe even 282) cam, X heads,a 727, and a 3000TC. Yeah I'm guessing. I guess I should re-load my DT-Dyno program one of these days; then I'd know,lol.
thanks to all you that helped me figure out what to do with my scamp. Bigger cam and leave the tunnel ram out

I guess I'll call it puddling. If you shut off a dual quad and could look at the bottom of the intake you'd see more gas present than if you shut off a single 4 bbl unit, like a dual plane intake.

IMHO it will be pretty hard to improve on what you have already. There is nothing wrong with that intake.

What tunnel ram do you have?

I have never seen that.

no tunnel ram yet I'm taking your advice and just changing the cam

skip all the above advise and go full tilt with a screw blower, that'll git'er done.
on a serious note, an Edlebrock dual plane would be the best choice, oh and ditch the Eddy carb for a holley 3310.

not sure yet been at work and not had time to look. I have no Idea what my compression is. checked my ring and valve compression for leaks with a pressure gauge and I'm at 175 lbs on every hole but # 8 is 185.so I'm thinking it's still in good shape she runs out very well two she can sit for a week not being started pump the gas peddle twice and she starts before I can let go of the key. plugs I check all the time to make sure the carb is still set right nice light brown on everyone. thanks for your help

find the the one that play's the song I'm on a highway to hell put it in my radio turn it on

I was recently researching the lyrics of this AC/DC song. According to my findings, the reference "highway to hell" is in regards to what it is like living on the road during concert tours. Over 20,000,000 views:

The motor sounds sound LOL did you mention what gear you have in the back? And if it's a Sure Grip or not?

i didn't know that good find. but according to most bible thumpers i'm going down not up

yea 410 possi 8 3/4 think it was richmond ring and pinyon gears. gear vendors over drive on the 904 with 2500 stall
