U-Bolt Torque Specs

I'm installing a set of 002/003 super stock springs on my 75 scamp and I bought new u bolts grade 5 1/2"x3"x8" size. The car is for street purpose only and I'm not sure what to torque the u bolts down too. A guy told me 25 foot pounds is it so the rear axle can move. That doesn't seem right but I'm not sure so any info would help thanks

The original torque (in the shop manual by the way) is something on the order of 45 ft lbs

I agree 45, be sure the springs have the cars weight on them, dont have the car jacked up by the body with rear end hanging when you torque them.
