u joint cap/strap

it ss the little cap/strap that bolts to over the u joint on the chunk universal in all rears? or is there different ones? I didnt have one for my 489 and used the one that was on my 7 1/4 havent driven it yet. Do i need a specific one? and if so where do i get it from?

Check with Dr.Diff,Randy,s Ring and Pinion or Mancini,s.Yes they,re all different sizes.I wouldn,t run the car with 7 1/4 on a .489 chunk.

you should get one with your new U joint. Napa or wherever you get your quality stuff from. Mancini sells the cool billet ones tho

how do you find what u joint you have? The u joint that is on my driveshaft is the same as my 8 1/4 one. When I use the 7 1/4 straps they dont screw all the way down to the bottom. Meaning I can see screw between the strap and the pinion.

the caps basically come in two diameters...

2 1/8 for the 7260 u joint

2 5/8 for the 7290 u joint

the straps must match the diameter of the u joint..

Measure the diameter of the cap.
