under dash wiring

having problems with wiring first I had no power to brake light switch now suddenly there's power but no signals when they worked before now no signals but emergency flasher work but no taillights thinking of just replacing under dash harness with new one from classic industries do you think this will solve my problems?

71 duster everything had always worked then noticed no brake lights so I replaced the switch and still nothing then noticed no power to switch then all the sudden it had power again but now no signals or tail lights but emergency flashers are working again and they had stopped working also

Personally I would never bother with replacing a harness, unless the car is undergoing a big resto. I have a '71 Demon and although the harness is basic, it's woven throughout the car like a spiderweb. I would much prefer getting on my back under the dashboard for an hour cleaning contacts than taking two weeks to pull everything out and put it all back in.

I would also add that when looking for a wiring diagram, look at several of them because, although one would think diagrams on the internet for a '71 Duster would be the same, they're not. I had to poke through four different diagrams until I found one that matched my car, due to incorrect and missing info on the diagrams.

Look for oxidation. Are the terminals, the brass, looking like dark tea or coffee? So, you have some ground to cover. Definitely pull your bulkhead connector apart. If your wiring is all hacked, for me, replace it. It's easy, and it doesn't take two weeks to replace it, I have done it in two cars, it's easy, but expensive. If your wiring isn't brittle or hacked, just start checking connections. Wiring under the hood, I just replace it, it's quite often brittle. All harnesses are separate on Mopars. Unless you are good at wiring, I would not go with the make your own with a kit.
